PANJIM: The proposed visit of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs to Goa has been deferred amid COVID-19 surge.
The tour was scheduled from January 7 to 11. The Rajya Sabha Secretariat said the fresh date of the study visit will be informed as and when finalised.
Congress leader Anand Sharma is the chairman of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs and was expected to lead the delegation to Goa and Hyderabad.
In Goa, the panel was to hold separate meetings with officials of Mormugao Port Trust and Goa Shipyard and officers of the Home Ministry on disaster preparedness and security arrangements at the port and shipyard.
