PORVORIM: Porvorim police busted a prostitution racket at Porvorim on Saturday evening and arrested a driver from Mumbai, while rescuing four girls in the racket.
According to Police Inspector Nilesh Rane, the police received a tip that the girls were to be taken for prostitution activities and were staying in a flat near Mandovi Clinic in Porvorim.
Acting on information, PI Rane and a police team raided the flat in the presence of an NGO Anyay Rahit Jindagi and rescued four girls who had been brought from Mumbai and Delhi.
The police later arrested a driver, Jitesh Dalwani, from Mumbai under Section 3, 4, 5 and 7 of Immoral Traffic Act and section 370 of Indian Penal code. The victims have been sent to the Apna Ghar at Merces and police are investigating the case.
