Prostitution rackets busted at Calangute & Nerul

PANJIM/CALANGUTE: Joint police teams busted two prostitution rackets at Nerul and Calangute on Thursday and arrested eight persons, while rescuing 15 girls from the North Eastern states in the two raids.

PANJIM/CALANGUTE: Joint police teams busted two prostitution rackets at Nerul and Calangute on Thursday and arrested eight persons, while rescuing 15 girls from the North Eastern states in the two raids.
In the first incident, a raid was carried out at a beauty parlour in Calangute by Crime Branch/CID. The police team arrested five persons, including the manager, partners and customers, while rescuing 12 girls in the raid. The parlour is, incidentally, managed by a woman who has been arrested in previous prostitution rackets.
Police is on the lookout for the prime accused running the prostitution rackets, as she and her husband are at large.
In the second incident, three persons were arrested while three girls were rescued when Calangute police busted a prostitution racket at Nerul on Thursday evening.
Calangute Police received a tip that the accused and the victims were involved in a deal near the Nerul church and rushed to the site.
A police team led by PI Nilesh Rane intercepted a car near the Nerul church at about 2.30 pm and nabbed Anil Kumar (UP), Mohan Jadgav (Karnataka) and Anishka Reshma Kumar under the Immoral Trafficking Act, while three women in their early twenties were also rescued. The victims have been sent to the Protective Home at Merces, Tiswadi.
