Prostitution raid: one held, one rescued

PANJIM: A 33-year-old woman from Punjab was rescued and another arrested in a prostitution raid jointly carried out by Crime Branch and Women Police Station at Calangute, on Monday. 

The raid was carried out following a tip off.  “One victim girl, aged 33 years, residing at Assagao and a native of Punjab who was about to be delivered to prospective customers for prostitution activities, was rescued by the police team. Nandini Pawar, native of Jalana in Maharashtra has been arrested for the offence,” PRO (SP) Shobhit Saxena said. 

The 26-year-old alleged pimp is charged with running prostitution racket in public vicinity and living on the earnings of prostitution. Saxena informed that FIR under Section 370 Indian Penal Code and Sections 4, 5 and 7 of ITP Act is registered against the accused at Women Police Station.
