PANJIM: To ensure that there are no alterations to the eco-sensitive areas as identified in the Regional Plan 2021, Minister for Town and Country Planning (TCP) Vishwajit Rane has asked the department to keep strict vigil on any sort of conversions.
The town planners and Planning and Development Authorities (PDAs) are entrusted with the task of ensuring that no eco-sensitive zones are converted.
In a tweet, Rane said that as per the RP21, he has directed the town planners and PDAs to ensure eco-sensitive areas are protected at all costs.
“A strict vigil will be kept to ensure that they (eco-sensitive areas) are not converted. The department will be closely monitoring any changes,” he tweeted further.
Rane had earlier announced to review all 1,600-odd approvals — final as well as provisional, granted for zone change under Section 16B of TCP Act by setting up a committee. Earlier this week, he suspended all Outline Development Plans (ODPs) — both notified and draft plans and decided to redraft it within 60 days.
