MAPUSA: Mapusa cobblers complained of harassment by the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) staff and for not allowing them to display their items for sale where they sit to carry out their business.

They threatened to agitate if the issue is not resolved.
A local cobbler Sudesh Hasotikar said, “A committee should be formed to enquire on how many new vendors are operating in municipal market. I have been doing business in the market for the last many years but the MMC workers are harassing us.”
“Due to COVID-19 pandemic we have suffered a lot. Now that lockdown is removed, we reopened our business. After taking loan, we got some belts, socks, laces and had put them for up for display but now we are told to remove it. The municipality is imposing fines of Rs 500 to 1,000,” another cobbler alleged.
