Tension gripped the villages of Ramtolem and Sainagar in Aldona as residents vehemently halted the ongoing construction of a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) shed by the Aldona Panchayat, citing concerns about its proximity to a revered temple. The project, initially initiated following panchayat approvals, faced strong opposition from the locals who claimed it violated High Court orders.
The Aldona Panchayat had embarked on the construction of a Material Recovery Facility shed in accordance with its plans and permissions. However, the residents of Ramtolem and Sainagar rallied together, taking a stand against the project’s location adjacent to a sacred temple. The ongoing construction came to an abrupt halt as the community asserted their objections.
The catalyst for the residents’ opposition was the alleged violation of High Court orders regarding the construction of structures near religious sites. Citing legal grounds, the villagers raised their concerns, emphasizing the need to uphold the sanctity of the temple and adhere to established legal guidelines.
In a display of unity and determination, residents from Ramtolem and Sainagar gathered at the construction site to halt the ongoing work. Their peaceful yet resolute protest aimed to draw attention to what they perceived as a potential threat to the religious and cultural fabric of the area.
With tensions escalating, local authorities dispatched police personnel to the site to maintain order and control the gathering. The presence of law enforcement aimed at preventing any untoward incidents and facilitating a peaceful resolution to the disagreement.
The villagers said “We are not against development, but it must be in accordance with the law, especially when it involves places of worship. The High Court orders are clear on such matters, and we expect the authorities to respect and uphold those directives,” remarked one of the residents leading the protest.
The Aldona Panchayat has yet to issue an official statement on the matter. However, it is anticipated that they will address the concerns raised by the villagers and possibly reconsider the location of the Material Recovery Facility shed in adherence to legal stipulations.
