MAPUSA: A peaceful protest was organised on Friday on the National Highway at Guirim, to highlight the dangers of climate change due to global warming.
The protest was organised by Goa Green Brigade and had the participation of a large number of students, concerned citizens, activists and foreigners.
The main focus of this Friday’s Global Climate strike was the participation from a large number of students, who were at the forefront of the protest shouting slogans, singing songs and waving placards with the message “save the environment from destruction”.
Besides expressing concern over climate change at the global level, protesters also highlighted “destruction of the environment at Guirim and surrounding areas.” The protestors condemned MVR Infra Projects for clandestinely cutting over 30 heritage coconut trees and choking to death several other trees at Guirm.”
