CANACONA: Challenging Congress-led legislators to prove their Lusofonia Games scam allegations, Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has said the state government was ready to provide all details as long as Congress MLAs were willing to ask for them.
Speaking to Herald on the eve of the monsoon assembly session, Tawadkar went a step ahead and hit out at the Congress, claiming that while the BJP had reduced the Lusofonia Games expenses by nearly half, the Congress would have hiked the expenditure by five times.
Reacting to claims by the opposition Congress regarding a Rs 50-100 crore scam in the Lusofonia Games and their plans to corner the government in the assembly, Tawadkar replied: “We are ready to provide all details, provided the Congress MLAs ask for them.”
“There is nothing to hide and we do not want to hide anything from anyone,” said Tawadkar, when asked about his strategy to face the allegations in the assembly session.
He categorically denied any wrongdoing in getting the necessary infrastructure ready on a war footing for the recently concluded Lusofonia Games. “Let me tell you Lusofonia was forced upon by corrupt Congress government.”
