MARGAO: The residents of containment zone of Gousiya Society at Arlem on Thursday said they have run out of essential items and urged the government to provide them with groceries and commodities before Eid.

DySP Kiran Poduval on Thursday visited the containment zone at Arlem and communicated their plight to the district administration.
Poduval, who was on his routine visit to check the well being of his police staff was informed by the people that since they are daily wage workers their resources have drained all together and have no groceries and commodities to celebrate Eid on August 1.
The DySP said, “I have informed the Deputy Collector and Mamlatdar about the plight of the residents. Since the residents here are Muslims they need some groceries and commodities to make sure they can celebrate the festival. The administration has assured to provide the necessary requirements to the people”.
