DE Findings: SP Sucheta Dessai conducts departmental enquiry; indicts PSI Pinge of bigamy, fraud, cheating, possessing disproportionate assets and violation of conduct rules

PANJIM: PSI Narayan alias Rushal Pinge, who was attached to the Sanguem police station was suspended again for allegedly misappropriating some case papers while he was posted at the Ponda police station, with immediate effect.

PSI Pinge was earlier suspended in 2021 following serious charges of bigamy and cheating by a woman from Vasco.

A Departmental Enquiry (DE) conducted by Superintendent of Police (SP) Sucheta Dessai in August last year, had indicted PSI Pinge in serious offences of bigamy, fraud, cheating, possessing disproportionate assets and violation of conduct rules. A complaint in this regard was lodged by a woman from Vasco who was allegedly duped and cheated by the police officer.

The inquiry officer SP Dessai had recommended disciplinary action against the delinquent officer, who was then posted at the Agasaim Police Station. However, he was transferred and posted at the Sanguem police station.

Infact a preliminary enquiry conducted by a high ranking police officer had with documentary evidence indicted Pinge of all the charges and recommended his dismissal from service. It is alleged that the PSI had cheated the young lady and her aged parents of Rs 80 lakh.

Earlier social activist Aires Rodrigues had questioned the government and asked the authorities to justify how it had dared to reinstate the suspended notorious cop who was accused of very serious charges of rape, bigamy and cheating he committed during his probationary period. The Congress to has echoed similar sentiments.

The Mahila Congress delegation had also demanded his suspension and asked that a strong message be passed on that no official should be above the law. They had wondered as to why the cop was not arrested despite offences against him were serious in nature
