SANGUEM: After being denied to hold meeting in the school, the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) members of Government Primary School, Villian Sanguem held the meeting outside the school premises.
The meeting was held to discuss the issue of arbitrary transfer of an assistant teacher of the school allegedly by the ADEI without taking the PTA into confidence.
Sources informed that the Headmistress attached to another Government Primary School at Naiquinim in Bhati village had gone on Child Care Leave, as such, the assistant teacher working at Government Primary School, Villian was deputed to take charge of the school at Naiquinim without the knowledge of PTA.
However, since past two weeks, the Headmistress who was earlier working at the Naquinim school joined duties and started taking regular classes at Villian. This irked the PTA members and wanted to know from the ADEI as to whether transfer of teachers can be done at the whims and fancies of the department officials without the consent of the PTA.
The PTA members informed that though they had urged the headmistress to give them permission to conduct the PTA meeting in the school on Sunday, the school authorities refused permission on ground that the ADEI has strictly informed the teachers not to provide school premises for functions on Sunday.
PTA members claim that they had sought the premises for holding an emergency meeting concerning the future of the students and to demand an end to arbitrary transfer of teachers without the say and information to the PTA.
At the meeting, the PTA members resolved to write to the ADEI over the denial of the premises to hold the meeting on Sunday and also to inquire as to whether teachers could be transferred at the whims and fancies of the ADEI without information to the PTA.
The PTA members informed that the meeting was convened on Sunday as majority of the parents are working on week days and are available for the meeting only on Sundays.
The meeting was attended by the PTA President Kanishka Nunekar, Vice President Devanand Velip, Panchayat Member Sujay Naik and others.
