PANJIM: Deputy Inspector General of Police, V Renganathan’s report may have given Police Training School SP A V Deshpande a clean chit after inquiry in the tendering of electrical work and other irregularities, but the deposition of PSI K M Maralkar, who served under Deshpande, says exactly the opposite. It exposes the claim of Goa Police press release that ‘no credible evidence has come on record to substantiate the allegation of corruption levelled against the officials of PTS’.
The 25-page letter, submitted to DIG Renganathan, clearly states that there are irregularities and corruption in the PTS. The PSI mentions how he was harassed by the Principal and PI of the PTS due to some issues with canteen payments
The letter also brings to the notice of the DIG that there is a major scam in the purchase of stationery and other articles required by new recruits during the training period. The detailed letter mentions that the electrical work was given to Siddhi Electrical by the PTS Principal without following due procedures.
The letter mentions every minute detail regarding the purchase of annual electrical items, fans, plastic chairs, canteen items and has been placed before the DIG, but all this does not reflect in the DIG’s report.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) that is investigating the case against Deshpande of illegal tendering of work of worth Rs 14 lakh and other irregularities on Friday recorded the statements of the PTS officers and crucial files have been procured.
As the ACB’s investigation is based on Herald’s report of last month, vital evidence, which was in Herald’s possession was submitted to ACB on Friday. The Herald reporter’s statement was also recorded by ACB for further investigations.
Sources at the ACB said that documents which were procured from the PTS confirmed irregularities in issuing of electrical work at the PTS.
