MARGAO: The fate of eight sitting MLAs, including one former chief minister, deputy chief minister and one minister from Salcete Taluka will be known on March 10, as the counting will begin at 8 am.
On the other hand, all the 56 candidates contesting in eight constituencies of this Taluka are eagerly waiting to decide upon their future political plans, after the results are out by 11 am.
People of Goa are also interested to see the fate of former chief minister and Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat (Congress), Deputy Chief Minister Manohar alias Babu Ajgaonkar (BJP), Filipe Neri Rodrigues (NCP), besides Clafacio Dias (BJP), Churchill Alemao (TMC), Wilfred D’Sa (Independent), Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco (Independent), and Vijai Sardesai (GFP) in this 2022 elections.
There are political heavyweights from Salcete who are keen in the results, which include Congress candidate for Nuvem Constituency Aleixo Sequiera, besides NCP candidate Mickky Pacheco (Nuvem); Moreno Rebello (Congress-Curtorim), Damu Naik (Fatorda), Savio D’Silva (Congress) and Benjamin Silva (TMC) in Velim Constituency.
People are waiting to see the impact of new political entrant Trinamool Congress Party, wherein party candidates such as Adv Seoula Vas (Fatorda), Dr Jorson Fernandes (Cuncolim) are fighting the battle, and whose fate will be known on counting day.
The keen battle between former MLA Avertano Furtado (Congress), Adv Valanka Alemao (TMC), and Adv Pratima Coutinho (AAP) will be an interesting one as per the view of public. On the other hand, the BJP candidate Ulash Tuenkar kept the fingers crossed in order to get advantage of splits of votes in Navelim Constituency.
At the same time, AAP candidate for Benaulim Constituency Captain Venzy Viegas is hoping to see the defeat of Salcete heavyweight Churchill Alemao, as the TMC candidate is also very much confident of winning the elections.
