BICHOLIM: Stating that they are for sustainable development, Vedanta Ltd Sesa Goa Iron Ore on Thursday claimed that the public hearing held on March 14, at Navelim was carried out in terms of the norms prescribed by the Ministry for Environment Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).
The company stated that their topmost priority is “Zero Harm, Zero Waste and Zero Discharge” and all our operations at Value Added Business are carried out within the norms as prescribed by various statutory and executive authorities.

“The public hearing was conducted within the restricted boundaries of Sports Authority of Goa ground for which requisite permissions were obtained from the concerned authority and in adherence to the directions of the High Court order dated January 20, 2021 passed in Writ Petition No 3 of 2021 and modified vide order dated February 10, 2021,” the note read.
As per the company, the proposed project, the Pig Iron Division currently has three blast furnaces and there is no mention of additional blast furnaces in the proposed project.
Through expansion, Vedanta is targeting to increase production capacity for coke by 3 per cent by adding four coke ovens. The production capacity of the existing blast furnaces at Amona will be enhanced by 20 per cent through efficiency improvement methods such as increase in Sinter percentage, improving OEE, increasing wind volume and better grade of iron ore and oxygen enrichment.
