PANJIM: The State government on Friday issued a notification appointing IAS Officer Puneet Kumar Goel as the Chairman of Goa Staff Selection Commission (GSCC) while Daulat Hawaldar (IAS) and Menino D’Souza (Goa Civil Service) as the members.
The notice issued by the Personnel Department states that the appointment has been made by the Governor of Goa.
The Commission has been set up to recruit employees for Group C posts in government departments.
Chief Minister had over a month ago directed that recruitment of posts for vacancies under this category be done through GSSC in a bid to reduce recruitment time as well as difficulty faced by candidates who appear for multiple interviews when more than one department is filling up posts for Group C.
Last month, the government also issued a circular asking the departments to withdraw advertisements for posts in Group C category published consequent to the passing of the Goa Staff Selection Bill, 2019 on August 9.
It also barred all the heads of departments from issuing advertisements inviting applications for filling up of the post/s which require to be done through this Commission.
