The election took place at the first public meeting of all purse seine trawler owners in Goa at Kesarval, Verna, on Monday. Purse Seiners from jetties across Goa have joined this association, which has over 300 members. Around 125 purse seiners attended the meeting on Monday.
Speaking to Herald, Dhond said that it was important for all purse seiners to have a strong platform. He stated said that through this common platform, the association would be better equipped to collectively take up the grievances of its members with the government.
