margao: NCP MLA Churchill Alemao, accusing South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha of never speaking the truth, advised him to put his own party in order first, before speaking about other parties.
Briefing media, he accused Sardinha of being the one who brought BJP to power in Goa when he defected from Congress along with eight other MLAs and asserted that Sardinha’s charge of Churchill aligning with the BJP is nothing but a lie.
However, he asserted that he would never join BJP as he had rejected that party’s offer in the past, even when BJP stalwarts like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani asked him to align with the BJP.
He alleged that “top people” like Sardinha or Digambar Kamat do not get arrested, while people like him have been thrown behind bars by both the Congress and the BJP.
Churchill pointed out that Sardinha never spoke on the Mhadei issue or on the effect GoaMiles is having on Goan taxi owners and asked him to rebuild the Congress that is crumbling first. “What is happening in Madhya Pradesh is noteworthy as the Scindias who were loyal to Congress for so long have now quit the party,” he said.
“The Congress is a crumbling party that was nearly annihilated in Maharashtra and is now getting vanquished in MP where 22 MLAs have quit the party,” he said. He argued that Jyotiraditya Scindia had asked for a change in leadership and pointed out that it was the same demand he had when he quit the Congress.
