PWD begins cleaning Margao’s ‘dusty’ roads

MARGAO: Contractors engaged by the Public Works Department (PWD) commenced the work of cleaning the roads in Margao following serious concerns from the citizens pertaining to air pollution caused due to damaged roads in the State’s commercial capital. 

Herald noticed a supervisor along with a few labourers removing the loose material caused due to the heavy rainfall on Wednesday. A supervisor at the site said they have been asked to monitor the situation pertaining to dust pollution. 

Herald had highlighted the issue wherein vehicles plying on Margao’s roads, damaged by the heavy rainfall, were causing air pollution and posing a severe health hazard. Public and shop owners had appealed to the authorities to provide with immediate relief.
