CALANGUTE: The Public Works Department (PWD) has finally begun repairs of the dilapidated roads of Anjuna-Caisua. The PWD team was seen filling up potholes along the road from Assagao to Anjuna-Chapora, bringing much relief to the locals. Many two-wheeler riders, especially tourists, have met with accidents due to the bad roads, which were dug to lay electrical cables for a private company.
It may be recalled that the locals had decided to close the roads on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, following which the PWD carried out temporary fixes, like filling the potholes with mud, besides assuring permanent repairs after the monsoons.
“Thank god the PWD has finally decided to repair our dreaded roads. Everyone, especially the daily commuters, were finding it difficult to travel either by bikes of cars. We hope the roads will soon be hot mixed,” said Agnelo, a local motorist.
