BICHOLIM: One Shekhar Gawas from Copordem in Sattari, working as a cashier in Bicholim PWD office was remanded in police custody for seven days by a Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Bicholim for his alleged involvement in misappropriation of Rs 13 lakh.
According to Bicholim police, the suspect who was working as a cashier in PWD Bicholim misappropriated Rs 13 lakh in the year 2015. When this fact came to the notice of the then engineer Gopalan, he had lodged a complaint with Bicholim police and an investigation was initiated. The suspect was absconding since the day the complaint was lodged.
When Bicholim police came to know that suspect has returned to his native place at Copordem, they arrested him from his house on Friday late evening. The Bicholim police was assisted by Valpoi police in effecting the arrest.
