MARGAO: This department leaves no opportunity to sermon the public to help conserve water, but the PWD itself has been caught on the wrong foot over water leakage at Calconda ward of the Margao Municipal Council.
In fact, local residents of Calconda have claimed that though water leakage has been rampant in the locality since the last three months, there’s no sign of any PWD official visiting the spot to plug the leak. Though the spot where the leakage is spotted has developed a crater and has turned unmotorable, none of the departments have visited and inspected the site till date.
Sources in the know informed that the underground water pipeline passing through Calconda had developed a leak when the road was excavated to lay the underground sewerage line. “Work on the sewerage line was carried out in the area around three months ago. Since then, the spot has witnessed water leakage and it continues till date for want of attention from the authorities,” informed Dinesh Kakodkar.
He has demanded to know whether the PWD officials only give sermons to the public to save water, but does not puts the same into practice.
