PANJIM: A day after the pictures of the damage to Atal Setu went viral on social media; the officials of PWD visited the bridge and its approach roads, on Monday.
A release from the government said that during the visit, it was noticed that the surface varying hot-mix coat is laid over the concrete coat; and due to dislodging of localised bonding, the potholes were developed at few locations.
“The contractor M/s L&T has already been intimated to rectify the same on priority basis by GSIDC. As per the contract conditions as there is a Defect Liability Period, the contractor M/s L&T has to attend and carry out rectification/repair works at their own cost during the Defect Liability Period and no cost is incurred by GSIDC/ Government,” it further said.
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat had earlier shared the photographs and criticised the government over the bridge’s condition.
