MARGAO: The dispute between PWD-Goa and the Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) as to who should maintain the Margao flyover has left the structure in tatters.
Following complaints that the flyover has not been maintained for years, activist group GOACAN recently arranged an inspection of the structure.
On the day of inspection, officials could not agree on who should maintain the flyover. Besides GOACAN’s Roland Martins, the officials who inspected the flyover include PWD Assistant Engineer Rajesh Gaude, KRCL Senior Engineer Gopal Krishnan, Margao fire official Dhiraj Dessai and Traffic Cell ASI Shyam Desai.
The condition of the flyover is such that it is causing serious hardship to the motorists. The worn-out rubber joints and potholes further deteriorated during the monsoon. Motorists fear that the flyover could eventually collapse.
