PONDA: PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar in a review meeting took up various developmental works into consideration including the pending hot-mix carpeting of Ponda main roads and delayed work on sewerage network system.

Cooperation Minister Govind Gaude, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, Ponda Municipal Council Chairperson Vishwanath Dalvi, Principal Chief Engineer Uttam Parsekar and Sewerage and Infrastructural Development Corporation of Goa Ltd (SIDCGL) officials attended the review meet.

While addressing the media persons after the review meeting, the PWD Minister said that the officials had assured to complete long pending sewerage work in next few days following which hot-mix carpeting of Ponda main and internal roads will be taken up and will be completed by May 31.

He said, “All the bills of contractors are cleared and the pending work of sewerage network line will be completed by May 31.”

Pauskar said, “A new 25 MLD Water Treatment Plant will be set up at Guleli-Sattari, costing Rs 59 crore. This plant will also supply water to Ponda and other parts. At present there is no water crisis in the State.”

Gaude said, “The sewerage work was pending for five years. The locals have tolerated a lot. The lack of coordination among the PWD and SIDCGL officials was another reason for the delay.”

“The officials should coordinate with each other to complete the work at earliest so that the people don’t suffer. At least this time, all work should be completed by them and provide relief to the Pondaitees,” he said.

Gaude assured all cooperation from the government in completion of works. Ravi mentioned, “The sewerage work at Daag was delayed due to rock formation.”

“All the main roads will be hot-mixed after completion of sewerage work along with the road at Ponda Sub District Hospital,” he added.
