PONDA: Ponda residents can now breathe a sigh of relief as the Public Works Department (PWD) has finally taken action to address the dangerous lack of road separator markings on the one-kilometre stretch of the Daag-Ponda Road. After a recent OHeraldo report highlighted the issue as a recipe for accidents, the PWD has now marked central and side lines, as well as painted speed breakers with white paint.
Social worker Vishal Fadte lauded the prompt action, saying that it was essential given that the recent hot mix carpeting of the Daag-Ponda road has resulted in the widening of the road and vehicles traveling at high speeds. He likened the road to a racing track, making it more important to have clear road markings and safety measures in place.
However, Fadte also stressed the need for proper pavement and footpaths for pedestrians, which are currently missing.
