CALANGUTE: The Public Works Department (PWD) started repairing the roads of Anjuna-Caisua as demanded by locals. However, the locals were not happy with the work as PWD labourers were using mud to fill potholes. They stated that mud was useless as it would be washed away by the rains and opined that concrete should have been used as the temporary filing.
In view of Ganesh Chaturthi, Anjuna-Caisua locals had given the PWD until September 10 to repair the dilapidated village roads, including the “dreaded” road from the Anjuna petrol pump to St Michael’s Church, on a temporary basis. They threatened to block the roads leading to Anjuna if the PWD did not comply. The villagers had also hotly debated the roads issue at the recent gram sabha.
