MARGAO: Taking serious note of the news story published in the Herald on Tuesday, the Public Works Department has repaired the faulty connection, restoring water pressure to the residents of Varca, who had been complaining of water supply problems over the past month.
Viraj Patil, a junior engineer of the PWD at Benaulim, his team rushed to the site and fixed the issue. Herald had highlighted the plight of several residents from Pedda-Dumottem and Pedda-Nomelo who had threatened to agitate, as they were facing hardships due to low water pressure. “Our team visited the site and managed to find the fault. Later, the interconnection was changed with TEE. Now, the issue should be solved,” said JE Patil. He added that once the water is released, the feedback of the people will be sought, pertaining to the water pressure.
However, a few residents suspect that commercial establishments in the area are involved in tapping water illegally, as a similar incident was reported a year ago.
