MARGAO: The PWD, Nuvem and Seraulim Panchayat on Thursday, discussed the Western Bypass stretch, which is supposed to be opened for traffic from January 31. The stretch will be inspected for the readiness of the road.
The Western Bypass and the Eastern Bypass needs to be connected and synchronised for traffic. PWD discussed the various options for letting the traffic flow on to the new Western Bypass. The entry to the vehicles coming from the Eastern bypass is being planned in such a way that the traffic that is entering into the city from the Nuvem road is not interrupted in any way. Presently all the traffic, light as well as heavy, which comes down from Raia, gets on to the Eastern Bypass and further has to exit through the town areas. However, all the options will be discussed and inspected and then one of the options will be finalised.
Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’sa has demanded for signals at various junctions where village roads cross. The PWD has been briefed to complete the road in all respects before the road is opened for traffic on January 31 as stipulated by the Court.
