Margao: After Fatorda police wrote to the Sewerage Section of the PWD to inspect the site of sewage discharge in Madel, the officials swung into action and have started pumping out the blockages in the affected manholes in the area, which will help restore the regular flow of sewage.
Earlier, the irate Madel residents had filed a police complaint after noticing no action from the authorities. They had also blocked the pipe that was discharging the sewage in open.
This was after initially bringing it to the notice of the authorities that there was sewage being discharged in the open and into the nullahs.
They have now thanked the Fatorda Police for writing to the office of the Executive Engineer of the PWD Sewerage section asking them to inspect the problem and find a solution. The Police too had visited the site and informed the PWD that the condition is bad.
