PANJIM: After O Heraldo published a news report with a picture showing how sewerage chambers were being built at Rua de Natal, Fontainhas, in Panjim with a water supply pipeline and also electrical cables passing through them, Public Works Department on Sunday rectified the error and shifted the water pipeline from the sewerage chambers.
An engineer of the PWD said that using new pipes the line has been diverted from the sewerage chambers and added that the water supply has also been restored in the area.
Had the PWD not acted on time, there was a high possibility that over a period of time this pipeline would have got corroded and sewerage would seep into the potable water supply and would have caused health hazards.
