PANJIM: Citizens will now be able to report potholes using an app as the PWD will launch pothole reporting app on Thursday, December 29. The app will be launched by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral said that using the app, citizens across the State can click a photograph of the pothole and report it to the authorities.
He said in fair season, the intention is to attend to the public reported pothole complaint within three days, however repair time may vary during monsoon, he added.
The app was hitherto used by PWD officials for internal reporting and co-ordination purposes. Cabral said that within a period of two years the app will eventually be a one- stop public grievance redressal app, where people can report all grievances related to PWD such as leakages, improper water supply, sewerage network etc. Action will be taken against engineers/officers who do not take timely corrective measures after reporting of the complaint on the app, he added.
According to Cabral, App will be basically for three types of potholes such as humanly created potholes, digging by PWD to provide for water connections and quality of works. The PWD will accord priority for deterioration of roads followed by digging of roads, which will be tackled separately. He said that all PWD engineers will be allotted mobile numbers by the government, who intends to bring system of accountability and find solutions to people problems.
