CURCHOREM: Going forward, the maintenance of all government buildings will be undertaken by the Public Work Department (PWD) after duly inspecting them, PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral said here after inspecting the Fire and Emergency Services station at Curchorem on Monday.
Speaking further he said that henceforth, the head of any institution will write a letter directly to the concerned PWD executive engineer highlighting the condition of the building structures.
“After receiving a letter from the head of the institution, the PWD team will inspect the buildings and do the estimate to tender the work accordingly from the PWD funds,” said Cabral and assured repairs of all the government buildings which are damaged in a time-bound manner.
Cabral also inspected the ongoing work of a two-lane bridge at Oddar-Curchorem and assured to commence the bridge in the coming month of May.
“Once the new bridge commences, the old bridge will be demolished including the pillars. The pillars of the old bridge will be removed from its base at the time of demolition of the bridge so that water can flow free without any hurdle,” he said.
