MARGAO: Chandor-Cavorim Sarpanch Celina Coelho Furtado, in a press note issued today, while accusing MLA Clafasio Dias of misleading and instigating a group of people against the panchayat, threatened to stage a rasta roko if the road in Cotta is not repaired immediately.
She regretted that the MLA misled the people who had called on him on June 30 by asking them to seek clarification from the panchayat even though the PWD Minister had given clear instructions to the engineers to repair the potholes on the road from Savio Henriques’ house to Cotta Bridge on priority.
She said while the contractor asphalted some additional roads in the village, he did not fill up all the potholes on the road leading to Cotta bridge but left it incomplete which is the cause of problem now in the monsoons.
She said the reason why the road was not completed is best known to the contractor and the PWD authorities and alleged that this was deliberately done to disturb the unity and divide the villagers.
While wondering why the MLA has not taken the contractor to task for doing an incomplete work, the Sarpanch said if the road is not repaired immediately the panchayat will be forced to stage a rasta roko.
