VASCO: A Qatar Airways flight QR 507 from Thiruvananthapuram to Doha made an emergency landing at Dabolim International Airport after one of the two pilots of the aircraft complained of uneasiness midair. The flight landed at Goa airport safely.
According to the information from Airport Authority of India (AAI) Officials at Goa Airport, Qatar Airways flight with 127 passengers including three infants besides crew members onboard took off to Doha from Thiruvananthapuram International airport at around 3.49 am, however in midair the senior pilot of the aircraft complained of uneasiness and they therefore sought permission for emergency landing which was immediately granted by Naval ATC. The flight safely landed at Goa Airport at about 6.35 am with ambulance service kept on standby.
“When this flight was flying over Goa airport, we received communication from the QR 507 flight captain (pilot) that they need permission for emergency landing as the senior pilot is feeling unwell and wants medical attention immediately. Considering it as the case of medical emergency, permission was granted by Naval ATC and before the flight could land at Goa airport all emergency services including ambulance was kept on standby. Later, the flight safely landed at the airport and the ill pilot was taken to Manipal Hospital where he is presently undergoing treatment,” an AAI official told Herald.
Later, all passengers (127) were deplaned at Dabolim airport. Qatar Airways management sent another pilot from Doha and the passengers were subsequently flown to Doha in the same flight at about 3.43 pm.
