QUEPEM, MAY 9
Voicing concern over the growing burglaries in Quepem market over the past few days, the Quepem Merchants Association (QMA) on Friday confronted Quepem Police Inspector Sudesh Narvekar and demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the burglaries.
Led by Remedio Rebello, Guru Gawas, Sandeep Dessai and others, the QMA informed that nine burglaries have taken place in Quepem town between May 3 and May 6.
PI Narvekar informed the QMA that the police had not been deputed on night patrol as they diverted for Nakabandis and other security work in view of the ‘high alert’ by the State government.
He assured the QMA delegation that he would look into the matter and would make every effort to nab the culprits. He also requested the aggrieved shop owners, who have been victims of the recent burglaries, to filed police complaints.
The QMA members then met Quepem DySP Rohidas Patre and apprised him of the situation in Quepem town.
