MARGAO: The Quepem Municpal Council Chairperson Raul Pereira threatened an agitation if the government continues to ignore the Quepem hospital. The chairperson has set January 3 as the deadline for the government to begin the operations of the hospital.
“With the efforts of our MLA Babu Kavlekar the hospital was built in the Quepem town. However, in the last five years, the government has not made any efforts to start the hospital,” Raul said at a press conference in the presence of other QMC members.
“The health minister has to care for Quepemkaars. We feel that since Quepem is a Congress constituency it is being ignored,” alleged Filu D’Costa.
Construction of the Quepem hospital was completed five years ago, but still it has not been opened for the people of the area. The hospital has become a white elephant. The beds in the hospital are rusting and the equipment which cost lakhs of rupees has remained unused for years now.
