CUNCOLIM: Quepem Municipal Council which was struggling to get government funds for development in the past six years has now funds pouring into its coffers from the government treasury.
More then Rs 5 crore have been sanctioned to QMC for various development projects. Directorate of Municipal Council has approved the QMC proposal for 91 jobs and has sanctioned Rs 2.40 crore for the council to carry out jobs like drain age construction, construction of roads, linking of internal roads and other.
The Council has also decided to carry out all 91 projects from DMA fund.
QMC also got a nod to spend Rs 24 lakhs for extension of the garbage plant. The Council had asked financial help to extend the garbage plant. DMA has approved Rs 24 lakhs for this job. Beside the council also received the approval to spend Rs 10 lakhs for installing slabs on various open dainages. Council has also received approval from the DMA to spend Rs one crore thirty lakhs for the construction of a multipurpose hall.
This fund was pending in council’s coffers for six years. Chairperson of Quepem Municipal Council, Rahul Pereira told Herald the government and in a special way minister for Urban development Adv.Francisco Dsouza had shown concern towards QMC and assured all help.
