stated that the number of stalls and the response to ‘Goa Saras’ is increasing every year, but the quality of the products that are sold is not up to the mark. She has decided to hold seminars and conferences for the sellers – artisans and self-help groups – to train them on value and quality addition of their products.
Goa Saras, which is organized by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), South Goa, will be held from January 16 to 27 at the SGPDA Ground, Margao. Over 180 self-help groups and artisans from across India are expected to sell their products.
Accommodation in and around Margao has been arranged for all outstation participants, while transportation will be provided to them from the railway station to the ground, and thereafter, from the ground to their accommodation.
This year the Central and State governments have sanctioned Rs 35 lakh and Rs 20 lakh respectively for the event. Besides this, buses will be deployed from various points to the exhibition ground during the event so that SHGs who have not participated can get exposure to the event.
Cultural programmes, including dramas, will also organised by the self-help groups and other cultural organizations.
