PANJIM: A minor boy through his father has filed a writ petition before the High Court of Bombay at Goa praying to quash admission criteria to pre-primary in the Kendriya Vidyalayas and other educational institutions.
The petitioner is seeking to quash a circular dated December 13, 2022 issued by the Directorate of Education setting the cut-off date of June 1 to complete three years for the child to get admission in nursery. According to the petitioner, the cut-off date disables the child born between June 1 and July 1 to get admission in the institute and has prayed that it should be from July 1 of academic year for admission.
The State government prima facie objected to the contention of the petitioner while the Court adjourned the matter for further hearing.
