Quelossim gram sabha upset at MLA for failing to raise Mini India project issue at Budget session

VASCO: Quelossim gram sabha on Sunday expressed displeasure at the Cortalim MLA Alina Saldhana for failing to raise the Mini India Park project issue at the Budget session of the Goa Assembly, recently.

Expressing disbelief, Biodiversity committee head Lopinho Xavier asked, “What is the use of having local representative when major issues are not being addressed in the Assembly Session?”

The gram sabha members also expressed anger over the recent development pertaining to the Mini India Project issue, wherein Sarpanch Maria Souza, panchas and villagers questioned the panchayat secretary as to how and why he bypassed the panchayat and issued NOC to the project proponent. However, Secretary Narayan Ajgaonkar said that he issued the NOC as per law.

Villagers said that they expected Saldhana to raise the Mini India Park project issue at the recent Budget session and inform the Assembly that the locals are opposed to the project. “However, we are disappointed that she did not raise the issue at the Assembly,” said a villager.

Later Lopinho Xavier told the reporters that, “the villagers were having high expectations on Sadhana that she would raise this issue in the Assembly session, but sadly she did not.”
