She informed that her mother was kicked and slapped in their house by one Joseph Fernandes, a history-sheeter from Vasco who has been married to Zarina’s sister for three months.
Zarina also alleged that there was connivance between Joseph and Quepem Police Inspector Pravin Gawas as the latter was proceeding slowly in the case. She and her family have called for stern action against the accused and the people supporting the life-threatening acts of the accused.
Prior to the assault, both parties were involved in a battle for property. Zarina and her family started receiving threats and subsequently, Joseph came to the house of her mother Atanasia Fernandes and assaulted her, causing her injuries.
“The police claim that the medical report is not available and are not even taking action against the accused. They have registered a false non-cognizable complaint against me instead,” said Zarina.
Meanwhile, the aggrieved persons met the Sub Divisional Magistrate, who directed the Superintendent of Police and the Dy SP to give the senior citizen protection and take action in the matter.
