Quepem Government College claims Men and Women Cross Country Inter-Collegiate Championship

PANJIM: The Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, won both the Men and Women Cross Country Championship 2023-24, organised by Goa University at Goa University campus, Taliegao Plateau, recently.

Quepem College finished with 26 points and 20 points in men and women section respectively.

MES’s Vasant Joshi College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar, claimed second position with 70 points and Don Bosco College, Panjim, finished third with 79 points in men section.

In the women section, Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, came second with 37 points and Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College, Canacona, finished third with 41 points. 

The event involved a 10km run, which was flagged off by Dr Francis Lobo, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, Rosary College, Navelim, and Dr Rajan Mathew, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, Government College, Quepem, respectively in men and women section.

Individual results: Men’s section: 1st: Santosh Yedge (35:35.00) of Goa Multi Faculty College, Darbandora; 2nd: Milfort Peixote (36:24.00) of Govt College, Quepem; 3rd Parasharam Ghadi (37:10.00) of Govt College, Quepem. 

Women’s section: 1st: Ayan Soares (44:05.00) of Rosary College, Navelim; 2ndSiya Naik (46:20.00) of Govt College, Quepem; 3rd Ankita Gaunkar (46:20.00) of Govt College, Quepem.

For the presentation ceremony, chief guest Dr Rajan Mathew, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, Govt College, Quepem, along with Balachandra Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University, graced the occasion and presented trophies and medals to the winners.
