Quepem school headmistress celebrates Independence Day at Delhi’s Rashtrapati Bhavan

MARGAO: Maria Murena Miranda, Headmistress of Government High School (GHS) Morpirla, Quepem, attended the prestigious reception hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi on Independence Day. The event was graced by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, Vice-President (VP) Jagdeep Dhankar, Chief Justice Dhananjaya Chandrachud, and other dignitaries. Miranda, a National Award recipient with 36 years of teaching experience, was overwhelmed by the honour of being invited from her remote tribal school in Goa.

The fanfare announcing the President’s arrival, the playing of the National Anthem, and personal greetings from the President, VP, and PM left an indelible impression on her. Miranda expressed her gratitude for the invitation and the grand reception, still in disbelief at the experience. Her attendance at this high-profile event recognises her leadership at GHS Morpirla, which has achieved a 100% pass rate in SSC examinations for nine consecutive years under her guidance.
