Quepem temple robbery: MLA calls on Govt to intensify patrolling of places of worship

MARGAO: Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa has called on the Home Department to intensify patrolling of places of worship like temples that have become soft targets for robberies recently. 

D’Costa pointed out that residential areas and shops at market places are also at risk and thus there is a need for intensify patrolling by the police. The MLA was referring to the recent incident where Shri Datta Mandir at Quepem was robbed after thieves decamped with cash stolen from the donation box they had broken into.

While D’Costa has appealed to the Quepem Police Station Police Inspector to expedite investigation into the matter, the locals and devotees of the temple have also demanded quick action. 

Quepem Police are relying on CCTV footage which has the video of the robbers committing the theft and they added that they are hoping to catch the thieves as soon as possible. 

The MLA said that the temple is located in a prime location and added a strong deterrent needs to be set to ensure thefts do not reoccur.
