PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday said that government has withdrawn the question on foreign trips of ministers and MLAs for tourism promotion as the answer had mistakes in it.
According to the chief minister as it would now be taken up on August 5, it could not be said that it was tabled.
Parrikar informed the House that the starred question 3A that had as an answer that Rs 13.24 crore was spent on foreign tours was postponed by the Minister Dilip Parulekar for August 5.
“The department made mistakes in the figures. They realized their mistake and corrected it. But it was late. The Minister came to me and said that he want to table the corrected figures, to which I suggested that the question be postponed. Accordingly, the question was postponed and hence it cannot be considered as tabled on the floor of the House,” Chief Minister said.
As per the alleged erroneous reply, the department had spent Rs 13.24 crore on 26 trade fairs and road shows across the world from March 2012 till March 2014. The fairs were attended by tourism minister Dilip Parulekar, Power Minister Milind Naik, Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) Chairman Nilesh Cabral, Mahadev Naik, Deputy Speaker Anant Shet, MLAs Subhash Phaldesai, Ganesh Gaonkar and BJP spokesperson Dr Wilfred Mesquita.
