Rabid dog goes berserk at Borda
MARGAO (HR):?The stray dog menace has come to haunt Borda residents once again with a rabid dog going berserk by attacking many citizens in the area on Saturday.
A young girl was left traumatised and had to be rushed to Hospicio hospital for treatment after being bitten by the rabid dog. “I was proceeding home when the stray dog suddenly appeared on the scene and attacked me. So many residents were attacked by the same dog this morning”, she claimed, even as she has started treatment at the Hospicio hospital.
A local resident Camilo Barretto said the dog shelter recently inaugurated by the Margao Civic body has turned out a big flop and demanded that the government work out a solution for the elimination of stray dogs.
He said residents of Borda are afraid even to venture out of their houses as stray dogs are on the prowl in the locality. “The Municipality and other authorities have no time to initiate action despite the issue being highlighted in recent times”, he added.
Barretto has rung a warning bell by saying that unless the stray dogs are eliminated, dog bites will continue and the sterilisation program would not help protect human beings from stray dogs on the prowl.
