Rachol farmers want govt to hold p’yat-wise interaction

MARGAO: Rachol’s gram sabha discussed the draft agriculture policy issue on Monday wherein the farmers resolved that the government should hold a panchayat-wise interaction wherein an Agriculture Department official be deputed to explain to villagers the policy in detail.

The gram sabha welcomed the Women Reservation Bill which seeks allocation of 33 per cent seat reservation for women in Assembly and Lok Sabha passed by the Central Government but regretted that the bill will not come into force till the Census of delimitation is completed. Based on suggestions from the women at the meeting, it was resolved that the government should implement the bill before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier, the panchayat celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and also the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister late Lal Bahadur Shastri. 

Local Primary Health Centre (PHC) officer Dr Vinesh Gaonkar explained various health schemes while Principal S M Ravikiran Pawaskar called for availing the benefits of various government schemes.
