NEW DELHI: The Rs 60,145-crore crore scam unearthed by the Congress in the Rafale fighter aircraft deal by Prime Minister Modi is pale before a much bigger scam of Rs 1 lakh crore quietly signed after the deal.
Maintenance of the 36 fighter jets over the next 50 years that India has bought will cost this much. Who will pocket the booty? A joint venture firm launched by Modi’s friend Anil Ambani to enjoy the fruits.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday brought out this bumper gain to Ambani, which is much bigger than the Rs 30,000-crore “offset contract” his company got to make the Congress shout “crony capitalism.”
His claim cannot be contradicted as he has culled the figures from one of the presentations by an Ambani company to show how even the next generation will keep paying for maintenance of the French fighter jet as it has a life of 50 years.
Rahul’s Twitter take: “Over the next 50 years, Indian Tax Payers will pay Mr 56’s friend’s JV, 100,000 Cr to maintain 36 #RafaleScam jets, India is buying.
“Raksha Mantri will address a Press CON to deny this, as usual.
“But the truth is in the presentation I’m attaching.”
The presentation was given by the Reliance Infrastructure Limited for its investors on the new joint venture it launched with the Rafale jet manufacturers Dassault Aviation as Dassault Reliance Aerospace Limited.
