In a swift operation conducted on 8th June 2024 near Dolphin Circle, Naikawado, Calangute, the Calangute Police Station team led by PSI Akshay Parsekar apprehended a suspect, John, alias Joao Antonio Lopez, on charges of illegal possession of narcotics. The accused, aged 53 and identified as the son of Jeremino Lopez, was residing at H. No. 5/75, Maddowado Calangute Bardez, Goa.
During the raid, which was executed based on credible intel, including the participation of PC-7917 Gaurish Karbotkar, PC-7283 Raj Parab, PC-6118 Amir Garad, and PC-6008 Manoj Naik, the team seized approximately 4.6 grams of heroin, with an estimated street value of Rs. 46,000.
The operation was initiated following actionable information received by the Calangute Police Station regarding the delivery of narcotics in the area. Acting swiftly, the police, in the presence of witnesses, conducted the raid resulting in the seizure of the illegal substance.
PSI Akshay Parsekar filed a complaint regarding the possession of narcotic drugs, leading to the registration of an offense under the NDPS Act, 1985, by PSI Vishwajit Dhavalikar.
Further investigation into the matter is underway under the supervision of PI Paresh Naik of the Calangute Police Station, with oversight from SDPO Porvorim, Shri Vishwesh Karpe, and SP North, Akshat Kaushal, IPS.
